The North Staffordshire Medical Institute and Conference Centre is a medical research charity and conference venue, based in Stoke-on-Trent, that raises funds for local medical and surgical research grants.
The Institute was established in 1961 as an independent charity, to provide funds for medical research and to facilitate medical education.
The building opened in 1965 after a public appeal raised £100,000 and it became the first purpose-built postgraduate centre in Britain.
Since 2000, the North Staffordshire Medical Institute has awarded close to one million pounds to potentially lifesaving local medical research projects, including:
• Heart research
• Treatment following a stroke
• Ovarian Cancer
• Lung Cancer
• Renal Disease
• Prostatic Cancer
• Mental illness
• Diabetes
Located within the Institute building is the North Staffordshire Conference Centre. With flexible layouts, onsite catering and a friendly reservation team, the Centre can accommodate a range of formal and informal gatherings in clean and modern surroundings.
The Institute relies exclusively on legacies, donations and income from room hire to help continue this vital funding of medical research.
