The Branch is run by a team of volunteer trustees with a network of volunteer fosterers who care for rescued and abandoned animals in their homes, and give support to owners.
We also have a small group of paid staff and an array of volunteer helpers.
We are a separately registered branch of the RSPCA, primarily responsible for raising our own funds locally. We are affiliated to the national RSPCA Society but not funded by them.
Barnsley & District Branch rely entirely on the generous help of volunteers for:
- Visiting the homes of potential adopters
- Fundraising
- Fostering animals
- Trustees
We would like to thank our neighbouring RSPCA branches for their help when our foster homes are full as we do not yet have an Animal Centre.
We never put an animal to sleep unless it has proved to be unresponsively aggressive, or on the considered advice of a vet where all other options to prevent further pain or suffering are exhausted.
